Cargo Mas is the international music collective led by composer, musician, and producer Sam Vloemans. Bringing together musicians with backgrounds in acts like Lianne La Havas, Zap Mama, Gabriel Rios, and Guru’s Jazzmatazz, the group crafts a unique urban mix of jazz, funk, salsa, and soul. Over the years, they have collaborated with bass virtuoso Ida Nielsen (Prince), trombone legend Fred Wesley (James Brown), trumpeter Mike ‘Maz’ Maher (Snarky Puppy), and guitarist Cory Wong (Vulfpeck). At Jazz Middelheim, the collective welcomed American trombonist Greg Boyer, known for his work with Prince, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, and Maceo Parker. Their first collaboration in 2022, facilitated by De Singel, saw Vloemans composing and arranging new works inspired by Boyer’s rich career.
