Youniss Ahamad

For Youniss Ahamad, music is a tool to challenge the world around him. His sound fuses noise, electronics, jagged rhythms, and hip-hop/post-punk poetry, reflecting the Black experience in Belgium. His 2023 album White Space earned Bandcamp’s Album of the Day and led to performances at Rewire Festival (NL) and Out The Frame Festival (BE). Now, with Do We Try Beyond The Edge?, Youniss takes a more confrontational approach, blending glitchy, syncopated beats with urgent, rhythmic vocals. Described as a “direct sequel” to White Space, it explores the tension between surviving in capitalism vs. escaping Western exploitation. With influences from MC Ride, Show Me The Body, and Gil Scott-Heron, Youniss delivers a powerful, unfiltered statement on anti-Blackness and resistance, cementing his place in the canon of modern Black art.
